VIIF Spotlight: Past Your Bedtime
With the Vancouver International Improv Festival fast approaching, we wanted to shine a light on all of the amazing talent we have joining us this Oct. 6-10.
Past Your Bedtime explores the often unexplored romantic comedy genre through heartwarming and grounded characters based on real-life occurrences. Love can go anywhere and everywhere, all inspired from your suggestions! Come see them perform on Saturday Oct. 10th at Performance Works.
What was the funniest/best improv set your group has ever performed?
Basement theatre during one of Calgary’s Improv Weeks where all the companies put on a boat load of shows. We were debuting a new format where we use fortune cookies. It was one of those nights where every scene hit, every scene had a strong narrative, and we were making strong choices as performers. It started with a scene about being new parents and ended with a scene about Pizza Pops. We always refer to this show as the one where we met “Mama Pops”, the Pizza Pop Queen.
What’s the nicest review you’ve gotten for one of your shows?
The best review we’ve ever gotten was from our long time Artistic Director. He’s a father figure to both of us having known us since we were teenagers. His review after seeing one of our shows, “I laughed many times and the work wasn’t shit”. Best review ever!
Best thing about your hometown?
The People! We have amazing people. And steak, don’t forget the steak.
What’s the best reason for people to come see your show at VIIF?
The best reason to come is to see that romance ISN’T dead in 2015!
