Amy Shostak is an improvisor, comedian, and nacho-enthusiast from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
She has been performing with Rapid Fire Theatre (Edmonton’s longest-running improv company) since 2002. She appears weekly in Theatresports, as well as RFT’s weekly longform show, CHiMPROV. She has performed in festivals and led workshops all over the globe, in exotic places like Bogota, Wurzburg, and Milan.
For the last five years, Amy was Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre. In her time as AD, Amy most notably moved Rapid Fire to The Citadel Theatre, and since then the company’s programming has doubled. In 2015, she was honoured to receive an award from The Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts for Excellence in Artistic Direction.
Now that she has stepped back from her role as AD, she is excited to return to performing and teaching full time.
In addition to improv, Amy writes sketch comedy with Paul Blinov, in a melancholic project known simply as, Gossamer Obsessions. Amy also appears regularly on SuperChannel’s Tiny Plastic Men, and on CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show.
